6ft Bird Aviary
6ft Bird Aviary
Product Description
This bird aviary is constructed of Swedish Redwood 50mm x 38mm (2″ x 1 1/2″). The bird aviary panels are wired to the inner face so as to keep the timbers clean. The door bird aviary panel is constructed as a full bird aviary panel. This is optional as having the half door height is not a problem. On larger structures it is possible to have an internal door bird aviary panel. There is a kicking place at the bottom of the bird aviary panels to prevent wire damage. This is approximately 38cm (15″) high. The timber is treated with a timbertex water based preservative. All timbers are held together with zinc plated screws.
It is advisable although optional to have the timber tanalised as this will provide many years of maintenance free life and will prevent rot for up to ten years. There is an additional charge for this treatment. Just ask! The wire is aviary specification 19 gauge, 25mm x 12mm (1″ x 1/2″) galvanized weld mesh.

Pressure Treatment Options
For maximum protection, we can tanalise your product (a form of pressure treatment) to help give you up to 10 years without the worry from rot and normal decay typical to all outdoor wooden furniture. Click here to find out more.
Maintenance
If not Pressure treated then all our products are finished with a Teak water based (non toxic) preservative. The timber should be re-coated with an equivalent preservative every year to ensure the maximum life span of the product.
Oil based coatings are the best as they tend to repel water before it penetrates the timber fibres.
Re-coating is best undertaken on a warm dry day or even better after a dry spell when the timber has had time to dry enough to absorb the coating you are applying.
Additional Protection
Here’s a bit of a tip – get yourself an atomizer spray!
Get yourself an atomizer spray – the sort you might use on your indoor plant leaves. Most DIY shops sell what’s called a water seal. Some retailers have their own brand. You are looking for a translucent type.
Fill the atomizer with it and spray over the external surfaces of the product a couple of times a year. It’s really quick and easy. Don’t forget to wear appropriate mask and gloves. Follow the Health and safety instructions on the container.
